As a verification standard for the method development for determining the mineral oil content in foods and paperboard using on-line high performance liquid chromatography–gas chromatography–flame ionization detection (on-line HPLC–GC–FID).
As one of the hydrocarbon models compounds for the functionalization of saturated hydrocarbons by ionization with field-assisted nitrogen insertion and mass spectrometric characterization, which can be used for the identification of the elemental compositions of alkane constituents of complex petroleum-based products.
